Tell us a little about yourself!

Hi there, what’s the craic! So, a wee bit about me, I’m Claire and I’m a graphic designer originally from Northern Ireland, but now living in Manchester. I love collecting tattoos, hanging out with my two sausage dogs and would do anything for a katsu curry, yum!

What made you want to join MAG/CTM? 

As soon as I stepped foot in the office for my interview, I knew it was the place I wanted to be. MAGs culture, ethos and client roster really impressed me and I just loved the vibe I got from the people. Also, as a designer, I judge heavily on a company or agency’s website and I fell in LOVE with theirs so they really had me sold from the get go.

What do you do in your spare time?

I’m an avid gamer, and currently in the process of terrifying myself whilst playing the new Resident Evil game. My partner and I love cooking (I say that, I mean he cooks, and I eat it) and we love playing with our two sausage dogs - maybe I’ve mentioned them? I also enjoy the odd museum or gallery exploration and do a good bit of car boot sale hunting.

What will you be doing with the team?

So, I’ll be joining the MAG Creative Team as a graphic designer and aahhhh I’m beyond excited! I love learning new things and feel that MAG will really give me the opportunity to spread my wings a bit and expand my skill set.

Give us your best design quote

It’s not a quote per se, but it’s something that has always stuck with me - that a lawyer comes home from his job and that’s it; he can shed his skin and finally be himself at home and do all the non-lawyery things he’s wanted to do all day. But a designer comes home from a long day of work and continues to be a designer, taking in the world around them and never switching that creativity off.

What are 3 random facts about yourself?

Ahhhh okay so fact number 1: I’ve been in a proper music video, if you stop the 30 Seconds to Mars video for their song Closer to the Edge at 2:15, you’ll spot a wee teenage emo Claire! Fact number 2: I’ve been in an earthquake before (funny story actually) and Fact number 3: I’ve swallowed my tongue before… TWICE! And still lived to tell the tale.

And.. last but not least.. how have you kept yourself creative throughout lockdown?

I’ve been doing my fair share of freelance work throughout lockdown alongside my full time job which always keeps the juices flowing! And I also recently updated my design portfolio which was a super interesting project as I got the chance to flex my Wordpress skills a bit. Oh, and I designed the cover art for a Times Best Seller book, so I guess that was cool.
