THE BIG MAG HANGOUT
It’s been a rough year and a bit for everyone, but now we’re all heading back into the office so we gave our team a much needed hangout day as a welcome back! It involved quizzes, scavenger hunts, yummy snacks, pizza and a carnival themed photo booth. The perfect way to ring in a new-normal.
What we did:
If you’re looking to do something similar in your office, as a welcome back or just a team bonding day- here’s some tips on how to make the day fun, interactive and last for the whole day!
Firstly, to make it feel more relaxed and fun, we made sure we had plenty of snacks and everyone came in casual wear to make it physically feel different!
Do something that doesn’t interfere too much with the working day:
For us this was a scavenger hunt. We hid pictures of everyone around the office and gave out clues so people could figure out where they all were! It got pretty competitive at some points, as the first to find all the faces would win the prize! But everyone joined in, and it lasted for a while so people could sit at their desks whilst thinking about and getting involved in the fun. The prize went to Rich!
To get to know each other:
We listed everyone’s celebrity crushes, a fun fact about themselves, their favourite film and tv show and a baby photo and everyone had to guess which fact, photo fave film & tv show belonged to who. It caused for some puzzling over and fun speculation throughout the day!
Team building exercises:
We hosted a quiz for teams of two, full of TV, general knowledge and music rounds! Then the last task was to build the highest tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows in ten minutes- it’s an excellent team building exercise as it requires you to plan and think about the build, and it’s also great fun.
For laughs:
A photo booth works a treat, especially if you have props- we had carnival themed props so there was many an opportunity to pull a funny pose. It’s also a lovely way of making memories of the day.
